Session 1: Introduction

introduction image courses

Duration 5 min 14 s

A short introduction to Eco Fashion, what it is, why it is important, and the difference between Eco Fashion and Fast Fashion.

I recommend you watch the following documentary films:

The True Cost is a story about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing?

River Blue brings awareness to the destruction of some of the world’s most vital rivers through the manufacturing of our clothing through harsh chemical manufacturing processes and the irresponsible disposal of toxic chemical waste. This groundbreaking documentary examines the destruction of our rivers, its effect on humanity, and the solutions that inspire hope for a sustainable future.

As with anything in life, it's important to do your own research. More than ever, the confusing descriptions and rules of sustainability and the 'greenwashing" of issues regarding sustainability and eco consciousness leave people confused.
Because I'm an early pioneer of eco fashion, I have seen a lot of greenwashing and I am seeing more than ever today.

I believe that the most important thing in living eco consciously is that the health and well being of our planet is connected to the health and well being  of the people living on it.

The more decisions you can make to be caretakers of the earth's 4 elements (air, water, earth, fire), the healthier you will be. My hope is that I help you not only develop skills in eco fashion but encourage you to develop the eco conscious core values you carry through life.

I've written some articles and blogs about sustainability, some of which can be found on my Deborah Lindquist Eco Lifestyle website.
Here is one:  What is sustainability and why does it matter today?
